The social counselling service offers help and support with social-legal issues. It addresses numerous aspects that are of central importance for the existential security of the individual.

Consueling for migrants

In cooperation with the medical care authorities and other specialised services, our primary task is to convey basic medical knowledge about HIV infection, such as how to deal with the disease and its treatability. Psychosocial issues are also dealt with and adequate self-help processes are suggested and initiated if necessary. In addition, the counselling focuses on questions of immigration law and social law.

Appointments can be made through the main office.

Pension counselling

Pension counselling

Pension counselling is part of the AHF's social-legal counselling. Due to advances in medical development, more and more people with HIV can continue to pursue their professional activities and rarely have to file an application for reduced earning capacity. However, questions about vocational rehabilitation/benefits for participation and medical rehabilitation have increased all the more. Irrespective of this, we are also happy to help you clarify your pension status.

Furthermore, questions regarding the receipt of a possibly only partial pension for reduced earning capacity, additional pension earnings and the start of the old-age pension are becoming increasingly important. The marriage regulations for same-sex couples also means equality in the receipt of survivors' pensions. We are happy to provide information on this as well.

If you have claims from the civil servant pension system or are a member of a professional pension institution (for instance, as an architect, doctor, pharmacist), we will also try to help inform you further on your rights and possibilities. This also applies to related uncertainties regarding compulsory health and long-term care insurance.

The counselling centre now offers help on the above-mentioned topics once a month through an external social counsellor. We are also happy to provide information on questions of appeal and legal action against decisions.

Appointments can be made through the main office.
