Rainbow Refugee Support

Since the end of 2015, the AHF has also been addressing the issue of LGBT*IQ refugee work, initially the organisation enabled Rainbow Refugees e. V. to use its premises free of charge and to provide refugees with refreshments at their events. As a community association, the AHF felt obliged to become more active in this area and was able to recruit Knud Wechterstein, one of the leading experts on LGBT*IQ refugee issues in Hesse, from Rainbow Refugees as a full-time Rainbow Refugee Support officer.

 Our Rainbow Refugee Support includes the following tasks:

• Asylum procedure counselling
• Initial clarification of questions regarding residence law, labour law, social law and economic matters
• Initial assessment of psychosocial and medical requirements
• Referral to further services, if required

Rainbow Refugee Support is a project of AIDS-Hilfe Hessen and is funded by the state of Hessen.
